Scenes from an Iowa City Autumn

Sunday brought a welcome reprieve from this October’s gloominess. When I stepped out to walk with Newton, frost was still on the ground; by the time we made it across the neighborhood, the sun was bright and the frost melted. Our walks are often automatic: every step we take in tandem, every turn we take without thinking. So to shake things up and try my hand at noticing more, I sometimes take the camera. I had it with me Sunday, and saw these, among other things:
